Please help me and my Dad. We're in trouble. I just turned 14 and I have had to take care of my Dad mostly by myself for the last few months. My Dad said that the Mayo Clinic website says that Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever has a 75% mortality rate and in 2012 it almost killed my Dad. They cured the Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever but they have not been able to fix what it did to him. He has trouble walking. He has trouble seeing. He gets cramps in his arms all the time. He is in a lot of pain.
Things got worse for him in June. He had knee surgery on both legs. There was a problem and he got a blood clot that put him back in the hospital for 6 days. He keeps trying to work but some days he is in too much pain to do anything. The pain has made simple things like just putting on his boots a big deal. For the last two weeks he has barely been able to get out of bed. His business is not making any money because he is not able to work like he used to, and he has not been able to travel to get new stuff. We also have a vegetable seed business called Double Helix Farms, but we lost this year's crop because of the problems with the knee surgery.
With no money coming in Dad has had to sell off his personal stuff to keep bills paid and buy us food. There are 2 different medicines he needs to take but they are not covered by insurance and are very expensive. He says we are months behind on our bills and we might not have a place to live soon.
There are not any organizations, ribbons, or races for what is wrong with my Dad. He asked our family for help but they didn't. He had lots of friends but nobody comes around much since he got sick. We are not getting any help from anyone anytime soon and the Doctors at UAMS say it could be a very long time before he is better.
My Dad is a generous man and has helped lots of people. Would you please help him?
