Vital Non-Profit Needs Urgent Assistance

Scott Christian Care Center (SCCC) is a nonprofit organization that provides thousands of families with vital health, wellness and education services in one of the most poverty-stricken areas in the Appalachian region.   
 
After nearly a decade of successful operation, Scott Christian Care Center is being forced out of its facilities to make way for the building of a new bank.

Established in January 2011, SCCC has been providing basic life-sustaining necessities and life-quality enhancement services to the underserved people of Scott County, Tennessee and McCreary County, Kentucky for the last 8 years.  Scott County and McCreary County are both designated by the Appalachian Regional Commission as Distressed Counties and by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as Medically Underserved. More than 25% of Scott County's population and nearly 40% of McCreary County's population live under the poverty level. 


SCCC provides food for the hungry people of this impoverished region with a Food Pantry, Commercial Kitchen Meals, and a Grow Appalachia Gardening Assistance Program.  SCCC provides care for the sick through a Free Medical Clinic, Free Physical Therapy Service, and a Medicine Assistance Program.  SCCC provides for those in need through a Free Dental Clinic, and Household and Hygiene Essential Pantry.  SCCC also enriches lives through education with Healthy Cooking and Nutrition Classes, Life Skill Classes, Math Tutoring, a Resource Library, and a Computer Lab. 


 
All of these services are provided completely free of charge and are funded by modest grants and donations of time and money.  Since SCCC has operated on a shoestring budget, it has taken yearsto accumulate the facilities and equipment needed to serve more than 4,000 people per year.

In February of 2019, SCCC was informed that its buildings would be torn down and its land would be used as the construction site of a new bank.  SCCC's eviction and the destruction of the facilities is imminent.

In order to continue our mission, SCCC is asking for financial donations to help us build the needed facilities.

SCCC has been donated a wonderful tract of land with excellent road frontage. We are currently planning to construct a building to accommodate all of the services currently provided at SCCC as well as future service expansion. But, SCCC MUST raise funds for the construction of this building.
