Help Gwen’s Next Steps

Donation protected
Gwen really needs our help to take her next steps. She is currently residing in a nursing home with a partial leg amputation and a toe now missing from her other foot, with potentially more to be removed. She cannot go home as she has stairs she cannot climb, and because she is unable to tend to her bus company, her landlord is threatening a potential eviction.

A few months ago, Gwen had stepped on a piece of glass which stuck perfectly in her shoe. With diabetes and neuropathy, the glass in her foot went unnoticed until it was severely infected. Home care was setup to help with her foot and recovery. With holidays and missed days of care, and after being very ill for many days, the infection spread, requiring the lower part of her leg to be amputated. During this recovery she broke her other ankle and that foot is now infected due to a vibrating foot bath (please be careful using them or consider throwing them out) and now with one toe now removed due to infection to the bone.  She is not even close to being in the clear.

Those who know our cousin Gwen are aware that she has already survived crazy intermittent blood pressure and dizziness, which lead to her finding out she needed a stint in her heart (being on the verge of a heart attack). She has also survived kidney cancer. Additionally, she experienced twelve years of compromised vision leading to catarac surgery now being diagnosed with glaucoma. She has a gall bladder that needs to be removed, but she has not been well enough to have this surgery. Up to five expert physicians have been unable to identify the root cause of all of Gwen’s health issues.

We have always known and counted on Gwen as the 'Helper'. Now, aside from prayers and lots of love, Gwen could use ‘our’ help financially. She is fighting for health coverage and growing medical bills. She will need to make many modifications to her home to accommodate her new normal, and she will need ongoing care for an undetermined amount of time. She is also in danger of losing her business.

Please consider donating any amount. Please do not hesitate to share Gwen’s story and our plea for help.

God bless you, and thank you for your generosity and for your caring.
