Rebuild Dominica Hurricane Relief

On 18 September the island of Dominica was devastated by Hurricane Maria. The island needs our help right now!
Hi all,
We are two a friends who have been working in Dominica for well over a decade. We have been studying sea turtles with Errol and Marcella Harris of the Dominica Sea Turtle Conservation Organization, supporting a growing whale watching industry, conducting research on sperm whales through The Dominica Sperm Whale Project, teaching kids about marine science through the Floating Classrooms program, and enabling the next generation of local managers and conservationists.
It was with great disbelief and sadness that we all watched Hurricane Maria force its way through the island on Monday night.
While phones, internet, power and water are out, we have heard bits of news delivered by ham radio that the small island has been devastated by a storm that intensified rapidly. Footage from a recent flight over the island shows destroyed homes, blocked roads, landslides, and fallen trees everywhere.
Many of the schools we have worked with over the years have had their roofs torn off. Houses of our close friends and businesses of our collaborators have been destroyed, and the roads are blocked.
Right now we urgently need to supply materials and equipment to clear roads, build shelters and start helping those who have lost everything...but hope.
Please give whatever you can, we will use the funds to purchase building supplies and practical equipment to begin the rebuilding process - like tarps and chainsaws.
Our friends at Dive Dominica have boats safe on St Lucia and are ready to take supplies back to Dominica.
We hope to help enable the recovery of individuals and organizations that we have worked so closely over the years.
