My name is Dina and I have been in a wheelchair since age 11. At age 2, I was diagnosed with JRA (Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis). I drive an electric wheelchair which has been customized to handle all of the various limitations I have. I am a very short person, therefore my chair elevates to help me reach areas I cannot reach on my own. I had to fight for this wheelchair for five years with different medical services and insurance to pay for it. Unfortunately my fighting for a new wheelchair accessible van has been a daunting and tiresome fight with minimal resources available.
Now I am in a similar circumstance, however insurance companies and community service agencies don’t really help with the cost of a customized electric wheelchair accessible van. This electric wheelchair weighs about 300 pounds and is not foldable. It required a specialized motorized ramp from the side entry of the van as well as a stronger engine to carry all the weight and handle the additional electronics required for an electric wheelchair user. These van also require lower floors in order to allow the ramp to not be so steep and handle the height of the electric wheelchair.
My 2003 picture below died when the engine blew out and the ramp no longer works. This has created an emergency. I am in need of a new van that is $30,000 to be made wheelchair accessible. I was blessed with a loaner wheelchair accessible van, but it is quite old. I need a newer wheelchair accessible van before this one begins to fail as well. This loaner van is a very temporary solution to a bigger problem as well as public tranportation is over 2 miles away. Being wheelchair bound, I am not able to get to any public transportation stops because they are extremely far away from my home. I need to be able to go where God leads and follow my dreams, but the reality is that without a wheelchair accessible van this is nearly impossible. Please help me to reach this goal and raise funds for a new van. The cost of a newer van as well as the modifications and alternations to make it wheelchair accessible are far more than I can or my family can realistically afford. It is overwhelming to think of the amount that I need, but we serve a great God. I need your financial support, prayers and help sharing my story to raise as much of this $30,000 as soon as possible. My passion is helping others and that is why I am a counselor intern, but this is nearly impossible without your help. My goal is once I reach my fundraising goal and can have reliable transportation, my translational van will help the physically disabled communities here in North County San Diego with taxi services through my Nonprofit Club-ABLE. My website www.club-able.com for more info. Thank You. Please help me share this story.
Please even if this is a second donation. Donate anything that you can. Even if you have already shared this campaign, share it again. Even if you have already prayed over this campaign, pray over it again and add it to your prayer list. Together as one united family of God, miracles can happen. Together we can make dreams happen for Dina and for Club ABLE to get her transitional van as a Club ABLE wheelchair accessible taxi with reasonable prices. If you believe in her work, please take a step and show how much you believe. Faith without works is dead. Let our faith be alive and thriving through the acts of giving if it is a space on our wall, if it is of the money God has given you and if it is of time to lift this need up in prayer.
