I’m Primos, a 7th grade math teacher at Exceed Charter School, a K-8 public school located across two campuses in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn.   Each day I have the pleasure of teaching some of the brightest young scholars in NYC.  My entire student demographic are children of color with over 90% having heritage from African countries like Guinea, Nigeria, the Caribbean and West Indies.

Naturally, my students have a love for Marvel’s amazing superheroes.  Intense political debates about Marvel’s Universe are frequently overheard from my fortress at the front of class:

Who can beat who?   Marvel vs DC?   Can that happen in for real life?

Black Panther is the first major Marvel superhero movie with a cast of predominantly African descent.  I am excited at the opportunity to expose my students to superheroes and royalty that they can identify with.  This exposure will go great lengths in giving them pride and belief in there own “super powers”.

Rolling Stones’  Tre Johnson captured why Marvel’s Black Panther film is essential viewing for our children, “An entire generation of children will now know that a black superhero, society, imagination and power can exist right alongside Peter Parker, Steve Rogers and Bruce Wayne.  We've been waiting to see ourselves onscreen, flying through the air and running across buildings and dodging laserblasts from bearded colonialists our entire lives.   The Future is here on February 16th.”

My students work hard daily and come in every morning with smiles on their faces despite the fact that many of them must overcome challenging conditions before every reaching the classroom.  Here is your chance to help provide them with an exciting opportunity to explore their self worth.  I greatly appreciate your attention and efforts to this initiative and look forward to sharing the adventure with my students.

All proceeds will go to paying for the private screening tickets, associated theater costs, as well as refreshments. The private screening will be February 16th, 2018.The event will include:
- Private screening at United Artists (Regal Cinema) in BK
- Refreshments
Red Carpet Entrance
- Step & Repeat (No Hollywood-style event is complete without a branded step & repeat for guests to pose
for a photo-op.)
- Professional Photography
- Post-screening reviews by media outlets

While I'm in class teaching our future, my brother and fellow Morehouse Man, Lateef Cobb, will field all questions within a 24 hr window.

A round of applause is deserved for the community of "Change-Makers" that championed our initial goal within 10 days! Now it's time to broaden our horizons and offer this awesome opportunity to more schoolers and future leaders. Therefore, please continue to donate and spread the word so we can help more students see the Black Panther movie!

I'm not sure if you have been keeping up with the news coverage but your efforts haven't gone unacknowledged. The #blackPantherChallenge goFundMe campaign has been covered on CNN to the Ellen Show and the movie's pre-sale tickets are the highest for any Marvel movie to date. So please remind yourself, this is your doing!

I thank you, and the students thank you even more!
