Healthy Home Healthy Planet

Hi, I’m John Livermore and I’m on a mission to change the way Americans think about the impact of their home on the health of our planet. Building off of the success of my own home, the first positive energy home renovation in Massachusetts, and one of only a handful in the country, I'm starting a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, Healthy Home Healthy Planet (H3P), with my colleague Dr. Paul Wolff. Our mission is to empower people to decrease or eliminate their home’s carbon footprint and increase their quality of life. Our vision is a world with healthy and sustainable homes powered by clean energy.

Healthy Home Healthy Planet (H3P) will take a leadership role in massively stimulating homeowner demand for clean energy and efficiency services. Providing a vital missing piece, H3P will bring the game-changing idea of ‘Net Positive Energy’ homes (that generate more energy than they use) to the mainstream average homeowner. We will seek to make 'Net Positive Energy' a household term, and empower people with information and resources to make it easy for them to take action.

H3P understands that it is essential to also engage people on an emotional level about the health of their home, family, and the planet, in order to galvanize commitment and action. We will make clear the link between home energy use and the health of our planet, while articulating the compelling value proposition of energy and non-energy benefits. H3P will engage, educate, raise awareness, motivate, and seek to make common and contagious the Net Positive Energy concept with the general public - clearly connecting the dots - so that people want it because it's the new social norm.
We are asking for $5,000 to launch Healthy Home Healthy Planet (H3P) as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Here are our estimated start-up costs:

$2,500 - Legal, Accounting, Trademark, Insurance
$750 - State, Federal & Local filing fees
$1,000 - Website development, business cards
$750 - Board of Directors recruiting & Kickoff meeting

We are seeking these funds immediately, as we have a summer intern lined up (Mr. Dan Linger, a Junior at Bentley College) whose salary ($5,600) can be 100% paid for by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center if we’re registered as a non-profit organization. Having our non-profit 501(c)(3) status will also help enormously in securing additional funding to achieve the mission of the organization.

The urgency of our funding request is also tied to the urgency of reducing home carbon pollution as much as possible, as quickly as possible, in order to help preserve a livable climate. If all homes in the U.S. were to achieve Net Positive Energy we would reach the 26-28% carbon reduction goal that the U.S. committed to at the 2015 Paris Climate Summit. We are passionate to help make that happen!

We are incredibly grateful to you for any contribution you can make! Please know that your donation is more than a monetary contribution, it is an investment in your future, your family's future, and the health of our planet!! With sincere thanks!!!

For donations of $100 or more we’ll send you a Healthy Home Healthy Planet T-shirt!
