Update 2018
Well the Cancer remains in remission, thank you for your suport in that battle. The new issue is Congestive Heart Failure. 4/4/2018 was a first time for me, a midnight ride in an ambulance. I could not breathe, in the ambulance they had me on 12 litres of oxygen trying to keep me alive long enough to deliver me to the ER. I was swelled up like a blowfish. Well after a week they got me back to almost normal. Almost because I still have to live with being on oxygen 24/7 but I am still here fighting the good battle and posting cat pics :>).
I could use your help once again, I need to have a generator installed to power the Oxgyen Concentrator and my Cpap ( soon to be replaced with a Bi-Pap) I had Beco come by and give me an estimate and it was 10.5 thousand bucks. So if you can help I am very greatful, and if you cannot I understand and still appreciate what you did for me the first goaround.

Some History:
Back in the 1990’s I fought a five and a half year battle with Cancer and although I beat it eventually, it did wipe me out financially and forced me into bankruptcy.  That was the second time I had to start my life over from zero. When the bankruptcy was finished, Kathy and I celebrated the new beginning by getting married. She must have been nuts I was flat broke :>)

Recently:
The last couple of years I have been forced to downsize my consulting practice due to my dwindling stamina (a result of my long term coronary issues). I have cut it to the bone to a point where we are still getting by, but we also had to downsize our lifestyle to fit our greatly reduced income. Those of you who know me from the SMB Community, this is why I have been absent from the events where you normally see me at the last couple years.

Currently:
In January I went in for an unrelated issue, an ultrasound of the arteries in my neck. What they accidently found was an undetermined mass in the right side of my neck. Well another ultrasound and a biopsy and it was determined that the cancer I beat in the 90’s, was back for another shot at me. The doctors are currently shuffling me back and forth trying to figure out the best course of action. Normally they would start with another surgery but they are afraid my heart is not strong enough to make it through the anesthesia. I have also already had the normal lifetime limit of radiation. Now they are trying to come up with the least life threating approach to fight the cancer.

The Request, You Knew It Was Coming:
This is the hardest part for me. I am never one to ask for help. I am usually the one doing the helping. Knowing the kind of expenses that are coming and my limited means for covering them I am asking for your help to fight this battle. I need help to get through the impending mountain of bills and expenses, while I fight this rematch with cancer and hopefully defeat it once again.

I cannot go into this knowing I will come out the other side in bankruptcy once again. I also cannot risk leaving my wife in a position if I don’t make it where she is going to be forced into bankruptcy. So my request of you is this. Please help out with whatever you can afford to donate to this worthy (well I think it is worthy) cause. Please do not borrow money to donate or get yourself in a bind, but if you can spare a few bucks to help fund my battle Kathy and I would be eternally grateful.

Thank you for whatever help you can offer, and if you can’t help with money, positive vibes are still much appreciated.

 Gratefully,
HandyAndy

First startup of the generator, wanted to share this with all the folks who helped make it possible. Thank You All So Much for making it possible for my Oxygen Concentrator to keep running during the power failures we see in the summer storms in the south. https://youtu.be/E-gaoddrGx4

Since getting home from the hospital the second time I have gone from 290 down to 264.5 that is a lot of fluid loss, even enough to make the doctor smile. It is really hard sticking to the foods my wife lets me eat. Yesterday I got to go out for Chinese food for the first time. The doctor is allowing to have it once a month.

Welcome Home to a Denial Letter from Humana. You know that hospital you just came home from well we do not consider your heart failure to be medically necessary so we are not paying for it. If you would have had a full blown heart attack we would have paid for that.
Really did they take into account if they had not shoved me out of the hospital so fast last week, I might not have had to come back again so quickly? Reminds me of my first bought with cancer where the hospital sued me, they should check their history I won that time.
The medical profession really irks me, here take this medication oh wait stop taking that right away it is doing more harm than good. No money back guarantee with these guys, if they kill you in the process you will be lucky to get an I am sorry. I am sure after they kill me with mistakes Kathy will get a bill for services rendered and Humana will not cover it as killing the patient is not considered medical necessary.

Well guess who is sending this from their own house.
That is right I made the big escape today, from the hospital.
Got to take a piss without anyone measuring it :>)
Got to have a drink of water without anyone measuring it against 2000 Ml which in case you do not speak metric, is not quite enough to keep a sparrow hydrated.
Anyways getting ready to sleep in my own bed and wanted to let you all know I am home and feeling pretty good although exhausted from the days activities.
Have a Great Weekend, and Thank You for your Support!!
Made the big getaway today (2nd time)

Great news Andy (except for the back and tailbone). I hope 2018 brings even more/better news and the docs are able to get your meds switched to something you can tolerate and bring relief in lower doses. Be well.

Andy, Jose here from the NT Engineering Association. I wasn't aware that you had cancer before, and I am sorry it has returned. I myself have been unemployed six years and on food stamps and welfare, and also in bad health, I had a diabetic stroke and was in the hospital in 2012 for a week, I think I may have a tumor, but the blood tests have been negative, I just don't understand why I also have very little stamina. I hope you are back in good health again soon. God Bless.
