As a Master Beekeeper, I have been teaching the art of beekeeping in 12 Caribbean countries for over 10 years with great success. The biggest and most rewarding project has been Haiti. Beekeeping in rural Haiti has changed very little in 200 years.
The funds will be used for free teaching guide books that I have written and illustrated. I'm having them translated into Creole now. Hopefully they will be ready for distributed this fall. Haitians understand the value of education and they know it is the only way out of their economic situation.
Training women and youth groups is my primary goal. Beekeeping takes little time, but adds great value to the family core.
Honey sales = Better food, better health, better schools.
This is a grassroots effort to aid the poorest of poor.
Seeing the project continue to the next generation means a great deal to me and the beekeepers of Haiti.
Any addition funds will go toward raw materials for building new bee equipment for new beekeepers.
Beekeeping is a sustainable income with education and a little training.
