ENGLISH VERSION

HOPE  is a worldwide documentary, which aim to bring compassion, respect, love and passion to us all.

Hey, I am Maggy from Italy.

About 4 years ago I decided to dedicate my time to do as much goods as I can for the planet, the environment, the animals and the oceans.

Since then I was involved in many campaigns with the NGO Sea Shepherd as diver, videographer, editor, media officer, drone pilot, vegan chef and teamleader. With this link you will find some of my videos I did about ocean conservation and The Good Mood Film Production:  www.maggy-gschnitzer.com

Besides Sea Shepherd campaigns I did some other projects too, I started my own campaign called Cycle For The Ocean, when I cycled along the West Coast of the US to raise awareness about the problems in the ocean, did give some speeches on the way and helped out in different events. I was in Thailand and Malaysia to learn how to plant corals and to pass this knowledge on to many more compassionate people and I do give lots of speeches in schools about ocean conservation, veganism and plastic pollution worldwide.

I have a big dream! And I will do everything I can to make it happen:
I will make my first own documentary, called

HOPE - BIG CHANGE STARTS SMALL!

Our wonderful planet, which bring us the air we are breathing, and the fruits which delight us, is suffering! To me, there is way too much plastic in the oceans, way too much deadly gasses in the air and way too many animals and people suffering!
But there is hope, because fortunately there are many people taking direct steps and actions for a better future of the planet, for us and for all next generations!

This documentary is about those people, organisations and companies, which are focussing on creating a better world in their very own way, because I have the hope and the deep conviction within me, that a major change for this planet will happen at first by individual acts!

These ways include people collecting plastic at the beach, helping homeless people or hungry children, organisations taking care for animals, helping them to find a forever home, companies, that are producing fair, organic and sustainable products for the right reason and so much more.
I truly believe that to focus on how much good is happening on this planet will inspire many to be part of this beautiful movement. With my movie I want to bring people's attention back to those great things happening every day out there.

The beautiful thing is:

EVERY SINGLE ONE CAN BE PART OF IT!!

Every small step for a better future counts and helps to make this place a better one.

Just recently I reached the 2nd place at the EUREGIO UMWELTPREIS, which rewards ecological initiatives, and I won 1000€. That's amazing; this money helped me to buy a new camera to go on with my projects! But still since all these electronic equipments cost me a lot, I still need your help!

The money I raise on this gofundme page will be used for the production of this movie. Even 1€ is one step closer to the final project, because BIG CHANGE STARTS SMALL!

In January 2018 I start to film the documentary HOPE in India, where I will visit some organisations and companies, then I will move on to Thailand. This project (including filming and postproduction) will happen through the whole year of 2018 and I would need your support until the postproduction is finished!! :)

Your help means the world to me!

Get to know all of my projects and more about me on:

Thank you for all the good things many of you are doing for this planet every day. Your smile to a stranger can make the stranger's day!

Thanks
Maggy

HOPE - BIG CHANGE STARTS SMALL!

Unser wunderbarer Planet leidet.

The Good Mood Film Production :
www.maggy-gschnitzer.com

HOPE - BIG CHANGE STARTS SMALL!

HOPE - BIG CHANGE STARTS SMALL!

Ogni singola donazione in Euro aiuta a rendere possibile questo film. perchè BIG CHANGE STARTS SMALL  (grandi cambiamenti iniziano a piccoli passi).

Grazie mille
Maggy

Within the past 4 days I learned twice as much then I did in my 14 years of school!

I was able to participate in Nikolaus Peter Rittenau’s seminar about plant based nutrition in Berlin. For everyone of you that doesn’t know Niko, he is one of the most talented speakers about plant based nutrition I’ve met, because he truly worked himself through hundreds of books to understand what a healthy diet really means.

Sadly we don’t learn anything about nutrients (that comes close to reality) in schools.
In my home and in the most parts of the world, people still get told that they need meat and dairy products to life healthy, which is by the way a big lie. We don’t need to eat meat for proteins as all proteins are originally made by plants. We don’t need milk for calcium as we can find it in so many plants.

“The current state of science does not know one single nutrient that has to come from eating meat, dairy or eggs.”

Some months ago Niko published his book “Vegan Klische ade!” in german which is for now on THE book I use to understand the amazing world of nutrients and to pass this beautiful knowledge on in my vegan cooking classes and speeches.
People need to know, that a whole foods plant based diet can prevent all kind of deseases such as cancer or diabetis if it is done right.

People still believe to stop eating animal products wouldn’t provide all the nutrients they need and of course today there are possibilities to eat unhealthy vegan food as well. Donuts, burgers, mayo, you can find everything vegan and if you just eat those things, it might not be the healthiest way, that’s right. But like Niko always says: “compared to what?” Really, if we compare a vegan mayo to a non vegan mayo I prefer the vegan one without cholesterin, without the suffering of animals, without the crazy CO2 emissions. Anyway a whole foods plant based diet is based on lentils, beans, whole grains, veggies, nuts and fruits.

People as well still say, that a vegan diet would be so expensive. ?? Well, if you eat just prepared food instead of cooking beans, lentils and veggies yourself, or if you eat just in restaurants, then yes, it is not cheap. But again, compared to what?

We all should have reached the moment years ago, where we understood that 2€/kg meat can not work! It’s not the thing that organic fair lentils are to expensive, but it is the thing that animal products in general are way to cheap.

You can take a choice, at least 3 times per day it is in your hands, how you wanna live on this world and what you want to leave behind for next generations.

Niko will be part of HOPE and I will share a short part of the beautiful interview I made with him very soon.

As I was participating in Sea Shepherd’s campaign Operation Nyamba recently as the responsible for the media, I was working on some hard videos of poached turtles. Not easy to watch. Then I thought,it is a good time to share as well a positive and beautiful video about the amazing place we found ourselves in: Mayotte! Check out this video, that shows how much it is worth to do what we can to keep this place as beautiful as it is!

The last 6 weeks I spent on the beautiful islands of Mayotte, (101st departement of France, right next to Madagaskar). I was there as a volunteer for the ocean conservation society Sea Shepherd France to protect endangered marine turtles from poaching.

Sea Shepherd is doing an incredible job there, patrolling the beaches of Mayotte every night to protect the turtles in the time they come on land to lay their eggs. Poachers usually kill turtles just before they can lay, because it is said that the turtle meat tastes better than after laying. Like this it is not „just“ this one poached turtle that is lost, but with her the whole next generation as well.

Luckily there is a local association on the island that fights for the turtles! The ASVM (Association de Sécurité Villageoise de M’tsamoudou) with their founder Ali Mohamed, including 80 volunteers, that are all willing to do patrols every night on the beaches. Together with Sea Shepherd France there is a lot happening and many turtles are able to come on land and spend a save time to lay their eggs.

The ASVM does not get any other support than the one from Sea Shepherd, which includes donations and materials. It is sad to see, that those people who really DO the work of conservation with their hearts, don‘t get any support, but other organisations do, even if they are not doing 10% of what the ASVM is doing to protect turtles on the islands.

Sea Shepherd with Operation Nyamba and the ASVM, both will be part of HOPE! Because all the people I met during this campaign are the reasons why I never loose hope! These people are the ones, that don‘t just talk about conservation! THESE PEOPLE LIVE CONSERVATION!

Support Operation Nyamba and like that the ASVM by making a donation on www.seashepherd.fr

Thank you!!

Currently I am in Mayotte, a french island next to Madagaskar, to protect endangered sea turtles from poaching. As this is my 7th campaign with the ocean conservation society Sea Shepherd since 2014, it makes sense that it will be part of the documentary HOPE.
I don‘t know an other organisation doing so much for the ocean and it‘s habitants.
Here in Mayotte we patrol the beaches all night long to provide a safe stay on land to those turtle moms, that are coming to lay their eggs in the sand. All these turtles are mothers of next generations, but they get killed before they even can lay their eggs. This is not just a loss of so many mothers, but as well of all the baby turtles.
Some beaches feel like a graveyard, there are so many carcasses of poached dead turtles to find as the only left overs of once such beautiful lifes.
Sometimes it is frustrating, when you give everything to save these animals and still you can‘t protect them all.
But than there are these other moments, when you witness all the hatchlings taking their first steps towards the big sea and the mom‘s leaving happy and safe.
It can be a hard game to not loose hope, but it is definitely worth it!

NEVER GIVE UP HOPE!!

Here a testimony of mine about the campaign:

"We already have long and restless nights behind us. All the teams on the spot, all these wonderful people, give everything they have to protect marine turtles from poachers in Mayotte.

In recent days we have been patrolling together with a local association, the ASVM, also created by volunteers to save their island and it’s beautiful wild life. We found several dead turtles, murdered for their meat shortly before they could lay. Mothers and their unborn babies killed because of human greed. A bloody stick, fins, bones, skulls and blood, that's what poachers leave behind.

One of the greatest difficulties as a volunteer is not to lose in anger and hatred. When we face this brutality, it is hard to say "we do everything in our power" and yet that is what we do! Every night we will patrol the beaches of Mayotte for long hours. We are not enough to cover every beach every night and it is difficult to make choices. Which area should we patrol? What are the turtles that can lay their eggs in peace and return to the ocean without being slaughtered? We are aware that more volunteers will be required to protect all turtles that go back to the beaches here. Sea Shepherd works on that.

Often I take disturbing pictures of dead turtles, who have made a long journey to return to the place that saw them born and lay their eggs in their turn. It's horrible to imagine that these precious animals are brutally slaughtered just before they can give life. These images haunt us long. Hard to imagine what these mothers have to endure but we are also witness to beautiful moments where we can admire many mom turtles return safely to the ocean or watch the babies make a way to the sea after emerged. These are the moments that justify every effort! These moments draw a smile on the face of volunteers who know they protected turtles that night. These moments give us strength to continue despite adversity“
