Leadership HC Buddy Bench Campaign

The Buddy Bench is a simple idea to eliminate loneliness and foster friendship on the playground. If a student does not have a friend to play with on the playground, or if they want to make a new friend, they go sit on the Buddy Bench; other kids will then come and offer the child to play. The children will receive a short training on how to appropriately use the bench. Let’s spread the message of inclusion and kindness!

This project is brought to you by the Leadership Hardin County class of 15-16.  Leadership Hardin County is a leadership development and community educational program that connects and inspires local leaders.  As part of this program, we as participants are required to do a collective service project to help address a need in our community.  After our Education Day meeting, we were inspired by a local teacher, Ms. Laura Beth Hayes, who was working on a project with her students to get a Buddy Bench at their school.  We decided this was a project that was not just great for this school, but all of the elementary schools in our county!

The money raised by this account will go toward purchasing the Buddy Benches for all 15 elementary schools and the production of the training video.
