Anissa Ruiz, a freshman on the women’s soccer program here at Huntingdon is a native of Houston where she and her family resides. As we are aware, Hurricane Harvey has devastated the area and has caused significant loss to property and home damage. Anissa was informed that her mother’s home, where Anissa currently lives, has taken significant damage from flooding. They had to leave everything behind and only salvaged what they could take with them. The home currently sits in 4ft of water and her mother & sisters have relocated to family outside the flood area in Texas. Anissa and her family have lost a large portion of their home, appliances, equipment, clothes, and much more which are replaceable. In the short coming, they will need to vacate the area while the flood waters lower, damage can be more assessed, and proper reconstruction of the home can occur. They will be accumulating expenses due to the relocation of the family having to live elsewhere. 

Huntingdon College Women's Soccer has set up a GOFUNDME page on Anissa and her families behalf. Birmingham-Southern will now serve as a home match & charity event to help directly support the living expenses that are occurring because of relocating for time being and essential living needs: this may include clothing, toiletries, renting cost, and traveling expenses back to flooded home.

All excess proceeds will be sent to the United Methodist Committee on Relief.
