Sheila has been diagnosed with Stage 3 HER2 breast cancer.
This is a very aggressive cancer. After a whirlwind couple weeks of tests, doctor appointments and a short hospital stay to complete a list of scans, chemotherapy will start immediately. There will be 4 months of chemo before surgery, followed by 6 weeks of radiation.
Sheila has a long battle ahead of her, and if you're lucky enough to know her, you know she is handling this with courage and humor. Not only is Sheila a wonderful mom, daughter, and sister, she is the truest friend you could ever have. Sheila has always put everyone before herself. Now she needs all of us to come together and help her through this very difficult financial crisis. She can’t do this alone.
While Sheila works very hard, she lives alone and money is tight. Until now, her biggest priority was helping her daughter Olivia through college. Sheila took a new job as an hourly employee just 2 months ago. She has no health insurance or even sick time accrued so all time off of work for treatment will be done without pay. Sheila will be relying solely on Medicaid to cover this very costly treatment.
Sheila is gearing up for the fight of her life and it’s our hope that this fundraiser will allow her to focus on beating this cancer and working her way back to good health. Please consider helping Sheila during this difficult time. We are asking for your financial support to help offset the tremendous cost of treatment, rent payments, other living expenses and lost wages during Sheila's recovery.
