Going Green, Solar Farm at Matsu RV Park

$200 of $40,000 goal

Thank you for taking the time to check out my page. I am looking to help offset some of the cost to install Solar Panels at my RV Park in Alaska.  My main goal is not financial recuperation, but to help offset my carbon footprint of the RV Park and reduce my use of fossil fuels powering the Park.  I am hoping our shared passion in protecting the planet and use of sustainable Renewable Energy causes you to read further.

As an avid believer in Climate Change and wanting to do as much as I possibly can to contribute to solutions to help combat this, I am trying to put in as much Renewable Energy as I can.  My goal is to eventually fully power the RV Park with 100% Renewable power. Being a smaller sized park, I believe that goal can easily be achieved.  I am also hoping to encourage others in the area to see the benefits of solar power and hopefully pursue their own solar projects.  This would be a win-win for me - reducing my fossil fuel needs & reducing my carbon footprint and helping others to see the potential benefits of solar power.

After much research, I am looking at setting up and installing  a 48 LG BiFacial panel system mounted to a 2 axis tracking pole to take full advantage of the long Alaska summer days.  This is roughly an 23.2 kW System with room for expansion in the future.  I selected the 2 axis tracking over a fixed mount system. This is  due to the long days we have in the summer.  Instead of having a narrow window with full sun exposure, this will follow the sun from sun up to sun down, thereby taking full advantage of the sun throughout the entire day.  In addition, it will automatically clear the snow, so that it doesn't have to be manually cleared each time it snows, allowing the panels to work more.

I have been saving towards this solar equipment for the past 2 years,  but due to the diminishing Tax Credits,  I need to accelerate my plans to take advantage of the Federal Tax Credits.  2019 is the last year for the 30% tax Credit.  It drops more and more each year after. And this needs to be purchased, installed and in operation by Dec 31st, 2019.

This is why I have a deadline of August 31st to reach my goal. I need time to get the solar panels and tracker shipped to Alaska. Then installed and wire it into my existing electrical. Hopefully by early October before the snow falls.

I have already purchased and cleared the neighboring lot to place the Solar Farm. I have done my Due Diligence with the State & Borough to make sure all my legalese (permits etc.) is in order.   I have made all my contacts with the local Utility/Power company to ensure I have all their needs meet.  The project is ready to go.

If you would like to help me by making a contribution to help save & protect our wonderfully beautiful planet, and help to reduce my use of fossil fuels, I would be extremely grateful.  I know it is only a small step in the overall picture, but each step forward is a step in the right direction. As a passionate believer in " we all must do our part"  I am hoping my part motivates and encourages others to do something, no matter how small. Or large.

In addition, if any donors are ever visiting Alaska in their RV -  their stay at the RV Park will be complimentary equal to their donation amount. Just show proof of your donation.

I truly appreciate your taking the time to review and possibly donate to my cause.  Together we can all make a difference in fighting Climate Change and reducing our dependence on dirty fossil fuels !!

And if I am able to achieve my goal and possibly surpass it, any additional funds would be set aside specifically towards adding additional solar panels.  Or possibly incorporating wind generation into the plans to take even more advantage of natural renewable resources.

Thank you
