Laguna Storm - Glennwood - Repairs
Donation protected
On January 20th the largest storm in years hit Laguna Beach, California. Our weekend staff jumped in through the strong winds and rain sandbagging around the facility and digging trenches, filling holes and sweeping away water. Their untiring efforts saved Glennwood from even further damage.
Glennwood is home to 48 residents with developmental disabilities. While their rooms sustained some damage their activity room and common areas were severely damaged requiring a new roof. Resulting storm damage to our roof, carpet, and drywall is upwards of $15,000. These common rooms are the main daily gathering spaces for our residents, and are used for health and fitness activities, art, drama and music, movie nights and are spaces treasured for talking about how their day went with their friends and sharing their joys and challenges.
While our insurance hopefully will cover some of the damage, our roof replacement and drywall replacment in some of their personal rooms is not covered due to "rising water" policy exclusions. Our residents are amazing young people who work in the community and look forward to coming home. Please consider a donation of any amount for our roof repair and room repairs! We welcome you to click on the link below and visit our home page - watch our video and meet our residents. Thank you - with love and thanks in advance!
