Have you ever been in the position in life where you just wanted to take the hurt away from someone you love? That is where I am today. I know it is not the first time for me and probably not the first for you, but I have been trying to think of a way to help this sweet family that I love dearly!

This is my brother-in-law, Gil. My husband’s big brother and best friend. You can’t help but smile when you are around Gil and be in full belly laugh. His humor is contagious and I love the way his whole face and eyes light up when he talks with you.

Gil is my husband’s big brother. I am sure many of you have that big brother in your life, the one you go to for advice, the one you go to for help, the one you go to when things are tough and you just need someone to listen. Gil is that type of older brother. Not only is he the big brother to my husband, but several siblings and neighbors and friends as well.

I can easily say Gil is well loved by many! He is especially adored by his sweet daughters, son and wife. He is your typical good guy, family man. The kind of guy that will do anything for anyone in need. The kind of guy that tries to make life a little simpler and sweeter for others. And that is exactly what I would like to do for him and his sweet wife, Melissa, at this time.

Gil was recently diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer.

This is a hard diagnosis to receive for a father of such a young family. Gil is a passionate, hardworking husband and father. He has already begun the fight and has undergone several rounds of chemo-therapy. I am asking for your help to raise funds to help with medical costs associated with cancer treatments and family expenses. Any contribution you can make during this difficult time will be greatly appreciated to help ease their financial burdens. If you are unable to donate at this time, but would like to help by sharing this campaign, any effort you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Gil’s wife, Melissa, is a light and a rock to so many. She has been there for me during so many points in my life. I am just hoping that we can be a small little bit of light in her life at this time as she cares for Gil. This family has inspired and uplifted so many lives.

We continue to pray for miracles for the Moens. Thank you again for your help in donating or sharing this campaign.

Together we are STRONG.
We love you Gil and Melissa!

Hello everyone. I just wanted to share this little update message from Kay. Please feel free to leave your memories in comments or message me or email Kay as we would love to share these with Gil through the weeks.

“Family and Friends,
As many of you know our dear Gil Moen III is loosing his battle with cancer and may not be with us much longer. We would like to gather memories together for him and his family. Would you be willing to write down a short memory or experience you had with Gil so we could share them with him? We would then like to put all these memories together in a book for his children to read so as they grow up they will know and feel close to their father. We have just been amazed at how he has touched so many lives we were unaware of and we would like to gather these memories of yours and share them with Gil and his family. Please do not delay if you would like to do this. Please send them to: kholbrook@ipaperbox.com

Thank you everyone for your prayers, love and support of Gil, his family and our extended Moen family.”

More pictures to share from Abbie’s baptism. I think the last update took the top of the photo off. Love to all and thank you again for your continued thoughts and prayers for this sweet family.

Hello family and friends. I know it has been a while for an update on Gil and I have had several message me on how he is doing this week. So I felt like we needed to add an update. The picture is from the recent baptism of his sweet little Abbie. And can I just say that I have never felt the spirit so strong at a baptism. Such a precious day for a precious little girl and her daddy. We are all soaking up every minute with Gil that we can and just want to thank you for all your kind acts of service, sweet words of faith and thoughtful prayers on be half of my dear brother-in-law and family at this time. Enjoy these heart felt words from Melissa following. — Love Kassie Moen

“Dearest friends and family! Please, please forgive our silence in posting updates. We are so eternally grateful for every prayer, thought and kind wish. Gil is truly amazing. He is currently on hospice which means we no longer drive to the Huntsman Cancer Institute multiple times a week (that is an hour drive each way with several hours in between) . We are enjoying every single minute we have together and feel so blessed to be able to have this time. The kids are all troopers as well. We are pretty open about what is going on and although our hearts are breaking for the “brief” separation we will have to endure....we are so absolutely confident in Heavenly Father’s plan and the fact that we really will all be together again. The comfort that brings is real and we feel such gratitude to our Savior. We feel Heavenly Father’s love surrounding us and in large part he has shown us this through each of you. Through your love prayers and support. We pray for each of you as well....and hope that you feel the depth of our gratitude.
Love you all!!!”
