Olivia's Germany Exchange Fund

It has been a dream of Olivia's to travel abroad as an exchange student for years, but the cost is too high. During her school career she's been a model student, making straight A's since kindergarten. In her 10th grade year she took a German I class and was handed a pamphlet on the CBYX (Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange) program. This is a joint program with the U.S. Congress and the German Bundestag (German government) to award scholarships for students to be ambassadors as an exchange student in Germany. It's a highly competitive scholarship program and requires students to fill out a rigorous application that consists of numerous essays, two teacher recommendations, and a high GPA. While maintaining a 4.0 GPA, Olivia also participated in JROTC in a leadership position and on the JROTC Drill Team. She has also been building her resume for college since she was old enough to understand what college is.
Although her trip to Germany for a year is a scholarship there are expenses that are expected to be taken care outside of the scholarship. Just traveling from a warm climate like that from the coast of Mississippi to Germany is a huge change and will require a whole winter wardrobe.

It is estimated by the program that with the exchange rate of dollars to EU that Olivia will need roughly $300 a month to cover personal expenses. With an eleven month program that can be pretty expensive.
