Since 2011 Genesis Joy House Homeless Shelter, Inc., has been advocating on behalf of our homeless female veterans in Houston County, GA and surrounding counties assisting them in establishing security, obtain employment, gain access to education; secure resources, and maintain physical and emotional health with a goal of helping them move towards self-sufficiency and productive members of society.
When situations are difficult and devastating, it's hard to see a way out and being homeless is one of those situations. We assist in facilitating social change and empower our veterans and community by offering free professional counseling, programs and life skills to improve their quality of life. We are committed in promoting intentional living among our heroes, while increasing the awareness and involvement in our communities.
Warner Robins is a military community with over 35,000 civilians and 5,000 enlisted personnel. Every day over 50,000 veterans are homeless, and 10,000 are women with children, an increase of more than 140 percent in four years. These women have made countless sacrifices while being deployed and return home with physical, emotional and psychological wounds, afraid to share their pain and sorrow or ask for help. For the sacrifices they and their families have made, this is an unacceptable state for any of them to be in. The challenges facing our veterans are mounting. However, many more community-based service providers and workers remain overwhelmed due to a severe lack of tangible resources.
We are dedicated to serve our veterans who have served us. We bring J.O.Y. from despair to our homeless veterans and we're determined to help them take back the pride and dignity that they have lost through their struggles. Fueled by our love and passion for United States Military Veterans, we are standing strong to support them and advocate with and for them in their time of need.
We believe that American Veterans are the heart and soul of our nation. Homelessness is a word that shouldn't go with "veteran." To have a single one of them going without food, housing, proper clothing, hygiene products, and appropriate clinical treatment is an OUTRAGE!
Civilians are often in search of a way to give back to the Veterans and get involved, but have a hard time figuring out how. This is our chance to stand up and make a difference in the life of a veteran in need.
Genesis offers the only transitional housing facility in Houston County for homeless female veterans, and we are creating a pioneering solution to help our female veterans overcome two of the greatest challenges associated with homelessness. Through providing residential housing and empowerment programs, Genesis will be poised to noticeably impact homelessness in America. Let's help them to stand at ease!
