Gav's Classic 2017

Gav's Classic is a 3 on 3 basketball tournament in Indianapolis, Indiana going on its 41st year. Starting in 1976, Gav's Classic was a fun, local basketball tournament with competitiveness and friendship. It has slowly transitioned into a charity event that raises money each year for different types of people or organizations that need help.

Over the years, Gav's Classic has raised over $45,000 and has become a tradition in the Indianapolis area. Last year, the 40th annual was the biggest turnout ever. Newspaper articles were written and News channels came to film the fun, helping us raise $10,000. The proceeds of last years tournament went to Brody Stephens' wish to go to Disney Land. 

On Saturday, April 29, 2017 Brody Stephens passed away at the age of 8 years old after a long fight with leukemia. Brody showed bravery and a hard fight during his battle with cancer which brought NBA and NFL stars to his side. Brody became friends with the likes of Steph Curry, Andrew Luck, Jack Doyle and Glenn Robinson. Brody touched the lives of many and will continue to do so as his memory lives on. 

The Gav's Classic this year will raise money for the Child Life Development Department at Riley Children's Hospital. The Child Life Department is responsible for providing entertainment, crafts, art, music therapy and toys to children who are being cared for at Riley Hospital. 

This years Gav's Classic is on Saturday, July 22, 2017 in an Indianapolis, Indiana backyard. The tournament is ran as a 3 on 3 blind draw tournament. While the tournament plays out; door prizes, silent auctions and much donating occurs with good food and beer as well. All are welcome to come to the event and be apart of the fundraiser as we raise money in memory of Brody Stephens. This GoFundMe was set up by the Gavaghan family to promote the Classic to out of state or country people who would still be interested in donating to the cause.
