GARDEN OF KNOWLEDGE
Islamic School Cooperative - East Bay
We are all reaching out near and far to see if people/communities can contribute towards the sustainability of a much needed Muslim school in the East Bay, California. AlhumdiAllah in the Fall of 2015 we established the Garden of Knowledge, a full-time academic Islamic school co-op. We are trying to raise $30K towards construction of our new location, programs and overhead for 2017-2018.
Garden of Knowledge is an Isamic school co-op serving families in the East Bay, California. As a community of teachers and families, we seek to nourish and educate the whole child — head, heart and hands — by stimulating the intellect, fostering wonder and respect of each other and Allah's creation, and developing the child's active will. Our dedicated teachers are committed to our curriculum inspired by hands on approach. We are deeply committed to the reformation of public education through the home school movement.
As a co-op we are endowed with the freedom to employ innovative teaching methods by tapping into the wonderful learning resources the Bay Area has to offer! Our children have freedom of movement and are not confined to four walls of a classroom but instead are curious little butterflies in the world around them. We strive to be an Outschool as much as possible.
Inturn, the world and the people that encompass it becomes their classroom. For example, our students attend Lawrence Hall of Science, Cal Berkeley monthly for their science labs, participate in interfaith work, partake in many off-site classes for pottery, sailing, engineering, potting classes, taught how to befriend the earth through leaning how to care for it, make homeopathic medicines, learn life's skills to prepare them for adulthood, sew, cook, and even clean the school weekly. In addition to their daily Quran, Arabic and Islamic Studies, we also are weaving the Al-Ghazali Children's Program into our curriculum. See video link below. We are blessed to be a pilot school.

We actively work towards higher learning standards for our children. We are responsive to students' needs and are held accountable for student achievement through the charter school district. This partnership between school and family creates the village which is the foundation for children's success.
