BOB'S STORY

Bob is a 2 year old Great Pyrenees. In January 2016, He was adopted from a farm, where he was treated poorly and had minimal human contact. He lived on a short chain for the first years of his life. Three weeks after being brought into his new home, Bob ran away. On January 29th 2016, Bob disappeared in Norwich Ontario. For months several people tried to secure him and were unsuccessful.

Bob's adopted family decided to surrender Bob when he was caught because they realized he would need extensive vet care and rehab after being shot. Being a young family with small children, they aknowledged they would not be able to provide what he needed and they wanted what was best for Bob.

In late April of 2016, Ground Search and Rescue KW was informed that someone had shot Bob back in March of 2016.  Ground search and Rescue KW began searching for Bob. After a month of sightings and searching, GSR had discovered where he had been living.  A live trap was set up. On July 8th 2016, GSR had secured Bob!!

Bob's road to recovery will be long. The people who shot Bob in attempt to slow him down, has manged this poor gentle giant. He can not even apply pressure on it. He uses the leg as a stilt.
GSR took Bob to the vet. We got him his shots, rabies, general checkup and x-rays. Bob weighs only 72 lbs and should be 150 lbs min. His knee is shattered from the gun shot. The x-rays were looked at by a specialist in London. Bob is facing amputation or reconstructive surgery.

Great Pyrenees Club of Southern Ontario Rescue has stepped up and Bob is now in their care. This amazing rescue will need help with Bob's medical bills. The vets will be discussing what his future will look like and if amputation is needed. We will update as we know anything.

For now, this gentle giant is comfotable with pain medication. His foster family is thrilled to have him. Bob craves and remembers human touch. Just a matter of time for him to realize, not all humans are bad and he can trust us.
