Hello: My name is Dom-Sebastian, Artistic Director of TheBBoyBallet, Co-Founder of the Gate City Breakers, and citizen of the beautiful city of Greensboro, NC.

Right now my company and I train in empty hallways and shared apartment studio spaces. I am wanting to create a space where dancers and non-dancers can come together and developed their craft.

I believe all people want to dance. Sadly, people place limitations upon themselves when it comes to dance. This space will be designed to allow seasoned dancers and new movers, no matter their age, come together in a comfortable space to learn and create.

Brief Bio: Graduate from UNCG with a BFA (choreography) Minor (Drama) Technically trained in Street Dance and “Contemporary”. I've taught studio/workshops in the US (UNC Greensboro, Guilford College, and Elon University) and UK.

Credits: BET, MTV, Samsung, NatGeo, Verizon, Universals Studios, Disneyland, McDonald's, Scion, RedBull, ADF's Samuel Scripps studios, Greensboro Dance Theatre, The Dance Project in City Arts, Arts In Action, Dance Elite, and The Groovement Project (UK)

I expand my dance knowledge by remaining a student of movement. “Teaching as a student and learning as a professional” is the code I live by.

Broader Dance Background: To give a broader idea of my dance knowledge: I have had training in Ballroom, African, Indian, Contemporary (Cunningham, Graham, & Limón), Breaking, and various forms of Hip-Hop and Street Dance (Old School & New School).I am also certified in Bartenieff Fundamentals and have training in Forsythe Technique.

Why open a training space???: For many of years I have watched many dancers move from NC to chase their dreams in Los Angeles, New York and Atlanta. Some of them succeed very well, but there is a great amount of inspiration leaving the city because they believe they can't achieve their dreams here, at home. I am going to create a dance setting unlike any other in the state. Consequently, instead of dancer deciding to move to places like NY, LA, and ATL, they will train here, where there home is.

People are unaware of the immense talent North Carolina possesses. Some of the top choreographers in the industry have their roots in NC, and I luckily have a close relationship with most of them.

I want to provide a space that will help dancers make a smooth transition to their dreams as a thriving professional in the competitive world of a working dancer. At the same time, I also want to provide a space for the recreational dancer that wants to move just for the sake of enjoyment

Funding Usage: I have two ideal properties in the Greater Greensboro area.

The funding will assist in:
Studio Supplies
-Dance Flooring
-Sound System
-Ballet Barres
-Dance Gear Advertising Leasing and Zoning Construction Software
-Security Alarm and Surveillance
Beginning Utilities
-Staffing Conclusion:

I would love to see my state become a leading leg in the competitive world of dance education, expression, and entertainment. The only thing we are missing is the proper institution that allows this growth to happen. With your help, we can make this idea become reality. There is a lot of raw talent in North Carolina. Help me provide a place where we can turn that talent into a skill.
