Refugee camps - France and Greece
Donation protected
Further to our last visit, we would like to go back to the French refugee camps and visit those in Greece. We would like to take a group of volunteer researchers (20), to explore the experiences of human trafficking, domestic violence and issues related to child protection. The information will then be used to lobby policy makers and legislators for more appropriate responses, for who have been effected. To encourage our Government to provide services and supports to those who have been effected by human trafficking and/or sexual and physical exploitation on their migration journey.
We will also then work with local groups, staff and volunteers, with expertise from across the EU, on these issues. Together we will develop training and build better responses - both in terms of protection and access to services - for those effected. Your donation will allow us to do this. We will begin the project in November and over the following year address some of the worse human suffering within the camps in France and in Greece.
The project is a collabration of organisations with UK based Refugee Rights Data Projects leading the research element. Organisations such as the Immigrant Council of Ireland and the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre will support the training and service delivery element and it will be coordinated by experts on gender based violence Denise Charlton, Monica O'Connor and Rachel Widdis.
