Montessori School Needs Student Cubbies

Glen Allen Community Montessori School was born from a desire to bring affordable educational options to the larger Richmond community. As parents, we felt there wasn’t an answer for wanting to gift our children with the beauty of the Montessori curriculum without sacrificing so much of our livelihoods to do so.
Because of our not for profit co-op business nature, we rely on our community to aid in gifting families the beauty of a Montessori education. GACM needs a better storage solution for our children’s jackets, lunches, and shoes! We would like to purchase five sections of wooden lockers along with storage bins to make better use of our limited space. We currently use a small coat hanging area in the churches stairwell, and we have already outgrown its capacity!
We believe that enabling our children to do things on their own will breed confidence and independence. Such a simple change, such as a coat rack at a child's level, can make a dramatic difference for a child's development and personal sense of responsibility.
The developmental benefits of year-round outdoor play along with the journey of independence is an essential part of the Montessori method. Having this storage solution would aid in both. Each child can independently go to his/her area and put on coats/shoes. Children can still venture out even when the ground is wet because they will have a place to store their muddy rain boots!
