Funding A Dream for Sheedz - FUNDED!

Donation protected

Our friend Rashida "Sheedz" Olayiwola has been offered an extraordinary opprtunity. She has been invited by CBS to come to Hollywood and participate in an exclusive 5 month long workshop and showcase for the film & television industry.

This showcase has changed the lives of several Second City alumni and could do the same for Rashida.

Sheedz is the first performer to be offered this opportunity while still a student at The Second City.  It's pretty incredible. It is also incredibly expensive. Although she is working hard, she only has one month to save the money necessary to move her whole life across the country.

This workshop requires full time participation which means that she will not be able to have a paying job while she takes advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Unfortuately she will still need to eat food and pay rent which requires money. Ralph's does not trade food for spirit-animal readings... yet.

Sheedz needs to immediately come up with all of the typical moving expenses as she continues to pay her current bills. Sounds impossible, right?

First & last month's rent, security deposit, last minute flight cost, moving expenses for her personal items, apartment furniture, kitchen appliances, professional attire, basic cooking essentials, etc.

She willl also need all the monies one needs to live for 5 months in Los Angeles while she commits herself to this program.

If you're reading this you most likely know that she has both the talent and drive to succeed but she needs financial help to keep her head above water through January.

I know that there are a lot of worthy causes on this fundraising site but I'm not sure that there are as many sure bets. It pains me to know that the lack of funds for one half of one year could crush a dream that has a real shot at coming true.

You won't find someone more grateful for a donation that, on it's face may not read as necessary, but believe me it is. She is. She has a unique talent to share, an important perspective that needs to be heard and a giving heart that deserves thanks.

As my friend Claire Linic said "Remember at the beginning of Hamilton when a community saw so much potential in someone that they raised money so they could go change the world? Yeah. It's kinda like that."

Please enjoy a clip of funny from the beginning of her journey at The Second City alongside Damian White, Mary Morrice, Chadwick Sutton & Brittany Flynn Negroes On the Northside
