Fighting Finning Hands On
The title 'Marine Reserve' is only as good as its level of monitoring and enforcement. Unfortunately, the government is still failing miserably. Chris Wade has put together his own volunteer crew, donated his life, and his boat, to take it upon himself to do what the government isn't.
The first $1,000 we raised months ago was personally handed to Chris to help him get to Costa Rica while Skyler finished the film 'Great White Lies'. Now we are seeking additional funds to get Skyler to the boat and document Chris's fight.
$400 should get Skyler there. If we raise additional money it will be used to fly Luke Eller, a volunteer cameraman who helped film part of Great White Lies in Australia, there to also join the fight and help document.
Here's another video that helps explain the challenges of making a marine reserve and actual reserve.
Now I am attempting to join the crew to document the horrors of an unmonitored marine reserve and why ordinary citizens would feel compelled to do the job the government is failing to do.
Thank you to all for your support and help. We have two crowd funders going and will be doing a couple more for specific projects along the way as well. This is a LONG TERM PROJECT and there is not a lot of help out there. We have the right to enforce fishing regulations in Cocos Island and governmental support for our direct action campaign. This is not a rogue operation. This is the real deal that will make a difference.
