Hello my name is ALyece and I'm a Designer and Seamstress from Little Rock, AR.
A little about me:
Though I have lived majority of my life in the southern state of Arkansas, I am a native of Minneapolis,MN.
It was in Minneapolis that I began to develop my love for fashion and clothing. Through my love for Barbie, I was able to express my desire to create apparel to my unique style.
As a child, I spent countless hours designing and hand sewing different looks for my dolls. I knew very early on that I did not want to be anything other than a fashion designer and to find ways of changing young women's lives through my platform. Instead of playing outside with neighborhood friends, I'd plan fashion shows for my friends and family to enjoy. I'd design and sew the clothes, cut and style my dolls hair and put on what I thought was the perfect production. (smile)
As a teen, I began sewing for friends and family to practice my skill. I always made sure to have a custom piece for my summer trips to Arkansas.
Though I have not formally completed a design school; I have studied at accredited colleges; like the Art Institute of Dallas, Arkansas Fashion School, and have worked under Master seamstress.
Since the early age of seven I've had a passion for sewing and designing. I have always known in my heart that I wanted to complete fashion school and own a sewing boutique/school of my own. This is why I am asking for your help.
My goals:
My goals are to return to school and complete my business degree as well as complete fashion school.
Though the college I will attend for my business degree provides financial aid the fashion school does not.
Why am I choosing to do both?
I am a sophomore in my degree towards business in which I'll be able to study online as well as in a class setting. My fashion studies only require one class room day a week. I've done both previously and I was successful in managing.
What I need donations?
Because of my studies I will not be able to work an 8 hour shift job but I will continue to work at my sewing studio and part time seamstress job.
My space in business school is secured through my application but my place in fashion school has to be secured with an initial fee of $1200 and every 8 weeks after a payment is due. I have hesitated for a while on taking this journey mostly due to fear but I am choosing today to step out in faith and be vulnerable to the position of need. I appreciate all who donate and even those who just take the time to read and send supporting energy!
