Sponsor our FIRST Robotics team!

I am working with several families to start a non-profit STEM education group that will provide afterschool opportunities for local kids to learn more about technology, robotics, and teamwork. (FIRST robotics is one of the primary activities in which the team will participate.)

Pictured above is our initial team of students who are taking a leadership role in the process, from recruiting students from area schools,  designing the team logo, planning the logistics, and fundraising.

Our workshop space is in Sharon, Vermont where we hope to provide an opportunity to kids who might otherwise not be able to participate in such an opportunity. If you know of any potential team members who are served by The Sharon Academy, South Royalton, or Whitcomb (Bethel) schools or live in the surrounding areas, please let us know! We would like this opportunity to be open to local area students, regardless of means or prior experience. We welcome students with an interest in design, engineering, and programming, but also problem-solving, game theory, marketing, project management or STEM education and outreach to elementary schools. Our goal is a team of 20 - 30 students, grades 7 to 12.

We have started an educational non-profit which we have chosen to call Archytas, after the Ancient Greek philosopher and mathematician who is purported to have built the first robot. Go Ancient G(r)eeks!

Students will work together to design, build, and program a robot to compete at regional events. These robots will complete a task that we will learn about the first week of January.  For more information, see https://www.firstinspires.org/

Our most URGENT need:  $6,000 to register our team by the FIRST Robotics deadline, but we would welcome sponsorships or donations for other expenses. Our first year budget is going to be around $11,000, but some of these expenses can be defrayed by donations of tools and equipment.

We are excited about this awesome idea, and would appreciate any support you could give us! This is a terrific opportunity for kids like mine (the two in the front of the picture).

We have applied to be a 501(c)3 educational organization, so donations are a tax deduction. (However, if you or your company would be interested in being an "official sponsor" let me know! It could include placing your name prominently on our robot, our team t-shirts and the booth we will use for public outreach and competitions.)

Thank you!
