Hi there! We are Brian Harper and Tyler Kvols-Riedler and we are the Florida Fencing Academy - a local, family-run business located in Gainesville, Florida. We are extremely passionate about the sport of fencing and we love to share our passion with others! Over the past 18 years, we have taught fencing to students of all ages and skill levels. We are proud to say that we have created an amazing community of wonderful fencers and their families, and we are so grateful for all of the support they have provided for us over the years.
This October, we moved into a new facility that is going to help our community of fencers grow bigger and stronger! We are sharing this space with Baila Caliente, a local salsa club, and we want this space to become a second home to everyone.
Our vision is to create a fun and exciting place for people of all ages to achieve and exceed their goals. We aim to build a national training facility with a fencing culture where everyone supports and helps one another to succeed. One of the dreams of the Academy is to coach someone to the Olympics.
In order to make these dreams a reality, we need a few things:
1. A new floor! Right now, the floor in our building is old, hard, cracked and unsuitable for fencing and salsa dancing. We want to build a brand new wood floor that will keep our fencers and salsa dancers happy.
2. State-of-the-art scoring boxes and reels. This equipment is extremely important because it will help our fencers prepare for tournaments, and it will help us host tournaments that fencers from all over can attend!
3. New fencing equipment, including jackets, masks and gloves. We are happy to provide our fencers with equipment they can borrow during class until they decide to invest in their own. However, much of our current equipment is getting old and worn out. We need new equipment so that we have the best available for our fencers.
This is where YOU come in!
We promise that if you fund us... we'll floor you! Putting a new floor into our facility is our top priority. According to the quotes we received, we will need at least $18,000 to make this happen. Any extra funds we receive will go toward painting the walls and new equipment like scoring boxes, reels and jackets.
