Emily's Nursing School Fund

In 2012 I boldly stepped into the uncertain territory of becoming a doula and childbirth educator. I helped to start a non-profit organization that would ensure that all pregnant people would have access to prenatal education, a birth doula and parenting support--regardless of ability to pay.  It is work that I love and feel passionate about, even though it has not brought my family financial security.

Over this time, I have felt more and more called to the work of midwifery and have decided to return to school to pursue a degree in nursing and eventually midwifery.  Right now I am taking the prerequesite classes I need in order to start a nursing program in 2018 (hopefully at Spalding University).  However, our family is struggling financially due to under-employment from having to decrease my client-load to take classes, child care needs and unexpected expenses from this summer (car repairs and having to replace a laptop needed to do work).  This means that I no longer have (credit card) funds available to pay out of pocket for the classes that will get me to nursing school (and a more stable financial future).

I am trying to raise $3,500 toward that end.  This will cover the following:

Fall Semester 2017 tuition (2 classes and lab)
Lab Kits
Text Books
Spring Semester 2018 Tuition (1 class and lab)

Can you help me get over this hurdle that will get me to my educational and professional goals to help more pregnant people have healtlhy, safe, and satisfying birth experiences?

If I raise beyond my goal, any funds will be used to pay off the class I am taking now or be applied towards books when I begin nursing school.
