Emily Redwood Cancer/Pregnancy Fund

Emily has been through more medically than the average person, so when she found a lump on her arm she wasn’t concerned. When the lump turned painful in June Emily sought medical care and learned that it was a lump pressing on a nerve and it needed removal. Emily was so upset to face another surgery, as she had just started her dream job. She was referred to Mass General who told her that the lump looked benign and they were going to take it out and she could resume her normal life. Emily had the lump removed July 9th and went back to work the Monday after! That Thursday her doctor left her a voicemail that he was wrong, the lump was actually malignant, a high grade and aggressive cancer called Spindle Cell Sarcoma. Emily’s world came crashing down around her as the need for radiation and chemotherapy became necessary. Through it all Emily has remained her normal cheerful self and has been working like normal. Radiation for Emily is a daily event in Boston, about an hour away, that causes her to leave work everyday almost 4 hours early. With a 2 year old in daycare and bills beyond medical this expense has become a huge burden on the family. In addition to this, Emily has to be admitted every 3rd week for intensive chemotherapy that puts her out of work for an entire week. Between household bills, medical bills and the travel expense of cancer treatment, this young family needs help! That’s why I started this fund, Emily is far too proud to ask, but I know how needed (and appreciated) any help is.
