EmergencyBlankets4RemoteCommunities

Thanks to your generosity, we raised $1,234, including cash donations, and were able to send 200 emergency blankets to Barriere Lake First Nation, and 1800 to Standing Rock. Woohoo!! Thanks everybody!!

BUT THIS CAMPAIN IS NOT OVER!

We're still trying to raise funds to send emergency blankets to other remote Indigenous communities in Canada. This winter is expected to be  particularly harsh and many of folks are living in structures that are poorly equipped for these conditions.

Mylar emergency blankets are used to prevent/counter hypothermia. The airtight foil reduces convection heat loss caused by evaporation of moisture. Loss of blood is also minimized by the same mechanism. Mylar blankets can reflect 90 percent of the body's heat back to the body. They can also be used on mattresses under blankets, inside clothes, and taped to walls to reflect and retain heat from woodstoves and other heating sources.  These blankets are versatile, portable and could be the difference between life and death for someone.

Please help us reach our goal of another $1000 raised within the next couple of weeks. Winter is already upon us. Please don't wait!

This campaign was launched by the Art for Aid Project (www.artforaid.ca) and Turtle Lodge Trading Post  ( www.turtlelodgetradingpost.ca )
