El Refugio Sin Fronteras

Imagine a loved one gets separated from you and your family and is sent to another country. Imagine feeling helpless as the reality sets in that there's nothing you can do to stop it. Imagine the feeling of having no idea if you'll ever see that person again. For thousands of people, including children, it's a reality, as the United States separates families caught up in immigration issues. Six years ago I faced that very thing, so I moved to Guatemala. 

Now, for more than three years, I've had the same dream: build a house and several small casitas with the purpose of opening the doors as a sanctuary to families who come to Guatemala to be with their loved ones. In this dream, families can reunite and stay for a few days until they make other plans. Others who are just returning to their homeland can have a safe place to stay for a few days until they get their bearings straight. Parents who haven't seen their son or daughter can travel there for their first hug in years. I've had this dream every night and I feel as if God is pushing me to do this. 

Finally, after months of saving, my husband and I have raised almost all the money for the down payment on a beautiful piece of land, but we're about $2000 short. The seller is willing to work with us and hold the land until the end of the month, to give us time to get the remaining amount, but it must be paid before October. 

Would you help me turn this dream into a reality? I am so independent and rarely ask others for help, especially with money, but this time I need your help.
