Edgewater Gymnastics Rebuild Fund

On October 10th, 2018 Hurricane Michael came ashore along the Emerald Coast of Florida. Hurricane Michael was the most powerful hurricane in modern history to hit America, coming ashore, just shy of a Cat 5 Hurricane.

The strength of Hurricane Michael, totally destroyed the gymnastic training facility of the Edgewater Gymnastics Team .

Due to the cost as well as the location of the gym, the building was uninsured, for hurricane and flood damage.  The total cost to rebuild is on the GYM! 







The  storm was packing maximum sustained winds of 155 mph as it made landfall just East of Panama City, Florida. 

Michael was the first Category 4 storm on record to make landfall in the Florida Panhandle.
 
It was also the first major hurricane (Category 3 or above) to strike the Florida Panhandle since Hurricane Dennis in 2005.

A wind gust of 130 mph was reported near Tyndall AFB, close to Panama City, before the instrument failed.
 
Hurricane Michael, with 155 mph winds at landfall, is the strongest storm to make landfall in the continental US since Hurricane Andrew in 1992.

The building may be destroyed,  however the spirt of the Edgewater Gymnastics Team is STRONG! 


Our goal is to raise $350,000.00 for the following purposes:

- Find a new temporary location so we can get the girls back in training for this season. 

- Hire engineer to determined if the current location can be rebuilt upon, or if a new permanent location must by found. 

- Payoff the current note on the land. 

- Purchase new equipment (some equipment may be donated, saving us costs for outfitting the new gym. 

- Hire construction crew to remove current building. 

- Build or buy new building. 

The cost of equipment if used will be around $50,000.00. New equipment would be twice as much. Our goal is to purchase as much used equipment as possible.
