National Women's Leadership Camp

Hi!
My name is Quinn, I am a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) in Malaysia this year.
I am spending the year working in a local secondary school helping students improve their English as well as participating in cross-cultural exchange. This year I am based in Taiping, Perak on the west coast of peninsular Malaysia.

As ETAs, we get to teach alongside Malaysian educators, run or assist with co-curriculars, start clubs called speaking workshops, and run fun events called English Camps (think summer camp but compacted into one day).

This year I have a big dream. ETAs – Katrina Alden, Vanessa Avalone, Alyssa Bayless, Emily Clayton, Brittany Dimock, Amanda Fitzpatrick, Rachel Frantz, Meghan Gunn, Farhana Hasan, Juliana Heffern, Natalie Kiley-Bergen, Allison Larmann, Kelly Leatherman, Mikayla Roller, Caleigh Ryan, Caroline Tibbitts, Hannah Touchton– share this dream with me.
We want to bring students from all over Malaysia (we have 100 ETAs across the country) to Kuala Lumpur to participate in a 3 day summit on women's leadership. Throughout the year, we have been working with students to prepare for this big English Camp. By running speaking workshops on women's leadership, these students will have the tools they need to hold meaningful discussions at this camp in KL. They will have the knowledge about their own communities as well as Malaysia and the world at large. This will lead to discussions about how they can become leaders and contribute to their communities and beyond. I want this to be empowering, enlightening, and enriching. I want these girls to know that they can and will have an impact.

That's where we need your help. The U.S. Embassy and MACEE have been helpful and generous in providing some funding for this project. But what they can give isn't quite enough.
With your support, we can send just over one hundred girls  to KL to meet and talk with local and international leaders in their fields. We are hoping to bring in female leaders from many walks of life including politicians, educators, medicine, STEM fields, and more.

Luckily, $1 goes a long way in Malaysia. $1=RM4 which means donating as little as $10 could provide one student all of their meals for the weekend. $25 will cover the cost of transporting one student to KL. $150 will sponsor one student for the entire weekend –inclusive of transportation, accommodations, and food!
We will need the funds before the camp begins in late September.

This is a subject I, and many other ETAs, are truly passionate about. Please help us bring our students to this once in a lifetime opportunity.

Terima kasih! Thank you so much!
