What is the East Coast RepRap Festival?
To answer this question, first we have to go back to its inspiration, the awesomeness that was the 2017 Midwest RepRap Festival, held in Goshen, Indiana. The Midwest RepRap Festival, or MRRF, was a big slice of 3D Printing happiness, with wall to wall 3D Printing enthusiasts, prints, products, talks and, of course, 3D Printers! For those into 3D Printing, MRRF is/was the happiest of happy places! It was so much fun that our group of 3D Printing enthusiasts have come together to spread the RepRap & 3D Printing love by bringing the MRRF experience to the East Coast.
With the blessing of SeeMeCNC, the founders of the MidWest RepRap Festival, we aim to celebrate the diversity baked into the DNA throughout our industry and community. Our goal is to stage and produce a premier 3D Printing Festival on the East Coast in the summer months of 2018.
We will be inviting you, the 3D Printing community, to come and exhibit your 3D Printers with us, from small and simple to large and exotic. Many people will come to show off their 3D Printers in action, and they will show off the cool things they have created with their 3D Printers too. You’ll find 3D Prints of:
Spaceships & rockets
Droids & blasters
Working violins & guitars
Furniture
R/C cars, drones and planes
Replications of artifacts
Artworks of all types, sizes, shapes and colors!
There will be a dedicated stage with speaking workshops where both industry experts and community members are invited to give talks about any facet of 3D Printing. Vendors will be showcasing and selling the latest 3D Printing wares, while 3D Printing makers will be selling things they 3D Printed. We are working on a few extra special things for the festival, including community builds, that we can’t wait to share with everyone when we get more details worked out!
How can you help?
Putting on a festival like this is expensive. There are many costs, from our venue lease to insurance, permits, and even our website. People often assume that ticket sales fully pay for events like this. However, as we are keeping ticket costs very low, and we are refunding our exhibitor’s super low table deposit fees, ticket sales will only cover a portion of our costs. Beyond that, our expenses need to be paid upfront, and most of our ticket sales will be collected after we have paid all of our bills. While we will be to raising the majority of our operational funds from 3D Printing industry commercial sponsors, we have decided to open up a GoFundMe page as well. The GoFundMe page is here for anyone in the community at large who would like to help financially support the East Coast RepRap Festival.
If you are into 3D Printing at any level, and believe that a strong community is good and essential to support new and growing technologies, then your donation can help us throw the best 3D Printing event the 3D Printing community can ask for on the East Coast. The more donations we pull in the earlier, the more flexibility we can have in our venue choice. Setting and signing our venue is one of our most pressing financial burdens and important goals to accomplish. A contracted venue then allows us to look at doing all the fun things that we want to do at our event:
