The Economic Opportunity Council of San Francisco, Inc. (EOCSF or the Agency) has a long history of serving the City and County of San Francisco’s most at-risk residents.  Our Mission “is to address the problem of poverty in San Francisco by focusing resources toward eliminating the causes, conditions and impacts of poverty.”  As the only Community Action Agency in the City, EOCSF provides San Francisco’s most vulnerable community members with community resources, social and economic assistance programs, hope and the opportunity for a better, healthier future through a variety of programs including Energy Assistance and Home weatherization, employment opportunities, and access to a local food pantry, among others. Through LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) we served 5,000 households, including 487 children 5 years old and under, 4,715 persons 60 years old and over and 4,536 persons living with a disability last year alone This supports our Vision “to be a community action agency that provides a range of exemplary community programs and promotes community involvement and opportunities for self-sufficient and sustainable wellbeing among members of the San Francisco low-income community.”

Due to a change of leadership, the Agency has an urgent need to implement a strategy of independent funding to allow the Agency to continue serving the thousands of residents that depend on our existence. In fact, for the first time in the Agency’s history, we must complement and supplement the funding we receive primarily from the State.
