HOLY HOGWARTS, I’ve been selected to perform at the New York International Nerdlesque Festival, April 27-29, 2018!! This huge honour is only possible thanks to the fiercely loving support of my family, friends, audiences, and fellow performers who gave me the courage and confidence to apply. I cannot express enough gratitude to the amazing community of people I get to work, play, and perform with every single day! ❤️

Who is Draco Muff-Boi?

I’m a queer, trans burlesque performer who lives on Salt Spring Island and performs frequently with Vancouver’s nerdy burlesque and theatrical troupe, Geekenders. While my background is in opera and theatre, I accidentally became addicted to burlesque after making my first appearance on the big nerdy stage as Luke Skywalker in Geekenders’ A Nude Hope, six years ago!

Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to tour across the province and beyond, making appearances with the Vancouver Fringe Festival, Vancouver Pride, Salt Spring Pride, Kitty Nights, Capital City Comic Con, Man Up, Moonage Kingdom, The Vancouver Dyke March, and more. I’ve starred in shows based on many of my favourite fandoms—Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Sailor Moon, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Labyrinth, X-Men, and the works of Stephen King, Pink Floyd, and Tenacious D. It's a #gay nerd's dream come true!

Putting Queer Sexiness in the Spotlight

As a queer, non-binary trans performer with a long history of LGBTQ+ activism, I make it my personal mission to highlight queer and trans desire, embodiment, and pride in all my performances. I believe representation is a key component of pride. As a closeted queer and gender variant kid growing up in a small northern BC town, I didn't have any gay or trans role models to look up to. I spent a lot of years being ashamed of who I was, hiding and hurting myself because I didn't know how to love myself or share myself with people who would love me. Today, bringing positive representations of queer and trans love and sexiness to the stage is the single most important thing I do as a performer...maybe even as a person. I could not be more excited to bring that queer, sexy celebration to the stage in New York City!

How Can You Help?

We leave for New York on April 24th, 2018 (it's so soon)!!!

Thanks to my amazing friend Emily (yup, she's a Gryffindor), round trip airfare to NYC for both my wife and me has already been covered!!! ❤️

My mom and sister are also coming to New York to support me (all the feels!!!), so we will be sharing the cost of an Airbnb.  Wahoo!

Our expenses won’t be huge…that being said, I am a struggling artist and I don’t have the resources to make this trip happen without asking for extra help.  I am super, super grateful for donations of any amount whatsoever. Your generous contributions will be used toward:

-Travel expenses around New York City
-Shared Accommodation
-Food
-Updates to costume, make up, etc. for the big performance

THANK YOU in advance for any support you are able to offer! Deepest appreciation, respect, and love for helping me achieve this dream! xoxo Draco
