Pechacek Children's Future

Donation protected
My dear sister, Jill Pechacek, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer in September 2014 at the age of 46, and given only 6 months to live.  As an incredibly loving single mom of three wonderful children, Hawk (13), Brooks (11), and Hope (9), Jill has courageously battled her cancer over these past 17 months by undergoing multiple surgeries and unending rounds of agonizing chemotherapy.  Her brave journey is chronicled on her CaringBridge site: Jill's Journal

In addition to loving and supporting her three children, Jill has dedicated the last 20 years of her life role modeling health and serving others as a family physician in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.  Her faithful spirit and positive energy radiate in everything she does—whether it is coaching her children in basketball, volunteering at their school, or mentoring other ‘survivor partners’ around the country.  One of the many examples of how Jill focuses on others is her 29:11 Challenge that she launched soon after her diagnosis—challenging everyone to do 29 random acts of kindness over 11 days.  Check out these links: Channel 9 News Story  and 29:11 Facebook Page

Jill remains committed to beating her cancer and continuing to raise her children. Unfortunately, this past January she received a disappointing PET scan showing the cancer is growing, followed shortly thereafter by a ‘liver attack’ emergency room scare!  These events have catapulted her into preparing for her children’s future without her—an unbelievably difficult thing for any mom to consider, especially a single mom.  Jill’s deepest desire for her children is that they would be able to stay connected with the families and community at their Christian School and Church.  They have been a nucleus of support for Jill and her family.  To help maintain this connection in the event of Jill’s passing, Hawk’s godparents, Matt & Maria Sopcich, have been thoughtfully chosen to raise the children, keeping them connected to the friends, family, school and community which they love and have grown-up in.  It means the world to Jill and her children to continue their faith-based education in this committed and nurturing community.

A few weeks ago, Matt and Maria started construction in their home to build three bedrooms, a bathroom, a laundry room, and living space to accommodate Jill’s three children as well as their own three children.  With this latest health setback, and an overwhelming set of medical expenses, Jill has finally agreed to a GoFundMe, as long as the sole beneficiaries are her three dear children.  We hope to raise funds to cover construction in the Sopcich family home and continue Hawk, Brooks, and Hope’s Christian education.

Thank you for your prayers… Jill truly believes God still has great plans for her and she is here because of the power of prayer.  We appreciate you sharing this with family & friends!

* GoFundMe requires a goal amount, but our hope is to cover the construction costs.  Any additional funds will be used exclusively for the children’s future education.
