Great news! I am heading back to Greece over the Christmas period (17th - 30th)! Joining up again with http://www.liftinghandsinternational.org
The Yazidi people have faced genocide and have suffered some horrific atrocities at the hands of ISIS. Over 3,200 Yazidi women and children are still held by ISIS. Most are in Syria where Yazidi females continue to be sexually enslaved and Yazidi boys, indoctrinated, trained and used in hostilities. Thousands of Yazidi men and boys are missing. The genocide of the Yazidis is on-going.

LHI have set up a small community hub outside of the camp. They offer Distribution of NFI’s (non food items): clothing, hygiene, blankets, etc. Dietary Supplementation: fresh produce, rice, tea cooking oil, etc. Women’s Center: daily English and German lessons, yoga, music lessons, fitness, dance gatherings, beauty Sundays, handicrafts, etc. Children’s Activities: fitness, music, dancing, games, cinema nights, crafts, etc. Men’s Services: Yoga, fitness, English, German, etc
LHI are a small, independent American NGO set up by an American couple (Jeffrey and Molly) who have dedicated themselves to helping refugees from Iraq and Syria.

Mark and I are trying to raise a relatively small amount of money to take with us to help LHI to improve the quality of lives for these people. We are wanting to raise money for the day to day running of the camp, and the following;
• Food & provisions
• Educational and play resources for children
• Warm clothes
• Heaters
Winters in Serres are brutally cold and as this winter draws near, there is a real need for warm clothing and the items listed above. Our aim is to raise funds to buy resources from local retailers, this will also support the local economy. We will post on social media to evidence where any money is being spent.
Mark and I are self funding our trip (travel and accommodation), so everything we raise will go directly to the people we are supporting.
I know that the majority - if not all of you - are involved with, and fund-raise for a variety of great causes, so I write this expecting nothing. This is especially true given the generosity of donations for my previous trips to Lesvos, Calais and Thessaloniki. But if anyone would like to donate, we would be incredibly grateful.
