Veterinary Help for Dharma

Two days ago I bought an item off Craigslist in Austin Texas. And when I went to pick it up the woman offered me her dog- a huge German Shepherd who had massively swollen feet and was COVERED with a serious skin rash, and fleas. She said the dog was 5 years old. The dog could barely stand up and it wasn't hard to tell she had been very neglected, left outside in a yard smothered in feces. The owner had no interaction with the dog, no emotional attachment, kept her outside, and stated she only "used her for security."
I left with my item but couldn't get this sweet girl off my mind. So a friend and I went back later, picked up the dog and brought her to my house. The previous owner didn't even say goodbye and was clearly happy to be rid of her. I'm so glad to have found her- the Universe is pulling for her!The previous owner called her Jenga but we've decided to call her Dharma.
I took her straight to my local vet. Dharma is very weak, needs vaccinations and spay surgery, probably heartworm treatment, hip and spine xrays to see if the reason she can barely stand up is a pinched nerve and/or hip dysplasia. The vet gave her meds for her swollen feet and skin issues, and 2 different antibiotics as well. I bathed her and with a medicated shampoo, and gave her a flea preventive. They vet was wonderful and gave me a 50% discount on the exam, did a free mange test, and gave us some free probiotics for her tummy. But this first bill alone was $355 even with the discounts. We will head back to the vet next week for all her vaccinations (the owner lied and said she'd had them but her tags track back to a dachshund!) and start on the long haul of vet care it will take to get her up and running again.
In spite of all she has been through, she is super sweet with a great disposition, and a fighting spirit. If you can spare $5-$10 or more, every dollar will help. If you are giving to other causes or just don't have the money, could you please invest your positive energy, love, healing vibes, prayers, or whatever you do to reach a higher power, and send it to Dharma..? Myself and others who are involved with her rescue effort would be so grateful. Thank you. :)
