Dexter's road to wellness

Recently my husband and I drove from New Hampshire to Emporia, Kansas to rescue a Senior Dog named Dexter, who will be 11 in March. We knew he had been neglected for at least 8yrs and that there were bound to be issues.
When we got him we realized he needed help with his mouth. He had his first dental cleaning and we discovered he has severe Periodontal Disease. The disease is so bad that he needs to have 13 teeth extracted. We are proceeding with the surgery, scheduled on 12.13.18, because he deserves a better and pain free life.
We regularly donate and support so many animal shelters and organizations across the country that I never thought I would be creating a Go Fund Me for our newest addition.
Dexter is so full of life and you wouldn't expect that he is in any pain. We know with these extractions he will be a new dog and still be able to live his life to the fullest. Considering the amount of neglect he has experienced he is otherwise in great health.
Any donation even a single dollar would be greatly appreciated. We are unfortunately paying for this out of pocket as no Pet Insurance will cover his surgery due to "pre-existing condition". The surgery is estimated at $1900-$2100, I am only asking for $1000 in donations. All of the money will be going into paying his vet bill. I have attached an estimate from the Merrimack Veterinary Hospital where the surgery will take place. We understand that donors would like to know that the cause is valid so we want to be completely transparent.
If we surpass the total cost of the surgery we will be giving the rest of the money to the shelter who took Dexter in ( Rockin' Paw Rescue & Adoption Network ) if it wasn't for them Dexter would not be with us and probably still infested with fleas and who knows what else.
Dexter has only been with us for a month and we will do everything to make sure the rest of his life is full of love and great health. Dexter is a miniature Wire-Haired Dachshund who loves laps, peanut butter and warm blankets.
