Donation protected

Michael Hubbs is a Long Track Speedskater with his sights set on competing in the 2018 Winter Olympics. Now he has qualified for the 2018 US Winter Olympic Team Trials. After overcoming the challenge of being DEAF, he is determined to not let any obstacle get in the way of acheiving his goal and continues to aim for 2018 Winter Olympics. He is fighting hard to achieve his dream and inspire the disabilites and Deaf communities.

Selling every item he owned, including his car, Michael paid for a one-way flight to Salt Lake City, UT, so he could train at the US Olympic Training Center.

In August 2011, Michael participated in the Short Track Speedskating Desert Classic competition at the Utah Olympic Oval with the goal of setting personal best times. In the 500m, he shaved five seconds off his personal best time, and in the 1500m, he shaved 13 seconds off. He then won the overall bronze at the Eastern States Championship in September, and first place in the 500m at the American Cup that following month. He is grateful to the sport for changing his perspectives and helping him do something meaningful with his life.

In October 2013, Michael participated in an American Cup/ World Cup Trials/Single Distance National Championship in Salt Lake City, Utah. He broke 2 personal records in 1,500 and 5,000 meters. He, currently, became ranked #3 in the US for 5,000 meters age group.

In January 2014, he got qualified for 5 events for the 2014 US Olympic Team Trials. He made in the TOP 10 for 10,000 meters but got disqualified for drafting. Nothing will stop him. The next race was in February competing for 2014 US National Marathon Championship and won 2 gold medals plus set new US National Record for 50,000 meters age group.

In September 2015, after hard summer training since April 2015, he has now became #1 fastest skater in the US for 1000 and 1500 meters. He is currently training hard in Calgary, Canada.

Michael Hubbs has officially qualified for 2018 US Winter Olympic Trials for 500 and 1000 meters!
