David's Van Repairs

Donation protected
Would you please prayerfully consider this need and how God would have you to help?

We know that God is bigger than all our problems

David goes to prison every week, he is a full time Bible teacher to the prisons and jails of Okaloosa, Santa Rosa and Escambia counties in Florida.
Since 2010, David has partnered with other volunteers from Bible Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida to lead Bible studies, preach at prison revivals and visit individuals in jails and prisons wherever there is an opportunity.

The ministry David works with in the Okaloosa prison has had the lowest recidivism rate of all the faith-based ministries at that location. Obviously the word of God is changing mens' lives at this prison and so David's desire is to acquire more days for Bible classes during each month to reach more people. More prisoners' lives changed by God means less crime in our communities and more glory to God.

The Need

On April 4, 2017, David and team member Mike, were on their way to the Okaloosa Correctional Institute for a regular Tuesday Bible class but they never made it. Their transportation, David's Honda Odyssey, suddenly shut off and wouldn't start again.

The mechanic diagnosed a jumped timing belt. Considering this van was going 70 mph on the highway, that probably means engine damage as well. The cost to repair has been estimated at $3,000 if there is engine damage or $800 if it's only a timing belt. This fundraiser may be done in two parts - Part A. Replace the timing belt and pray that is all that needs to be done Part B. Repair the engine for an additional $2200. We are starting with the best case scenario and covet your prayers that a new timing belt will fix the problem.

This van was purchased less than 1 year ago. A new timing belt and other maintenance was performed at a significant cost at that time to make this a good travel vehicle for the primary purpose of facilitating and expanding the Prison Ministry.

With a van that seats 7, David has been able provide the transportation for other volunteers to events such as the orientation meetings for groups of new volunteers, the weekly classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays and monthly services on Saturdays and Sundays.

David has retired from our 20-year business and we now live on a fixed income. All expenses for travel, postage and reproduction of Bible study material for prisoners has been and will continue to be paid for from our personal income however we need help beyond our means to afford the vehicle repairs this time.

Here's the help we need: 1. Prayers for patience as we wait on the Lord's answer to this need. 2. Your donation if the Lord directs you to help that way or if you are not able to donate. . . 3. Help by sharing this fundraiser on the internet however you are able.

Thank you in advance for any type of help you can offer - especially the prayers!! In Christs' Love, David and Karen Sargent
