Hi There!
My name is Dr. David Iwig and I am running for Hempfield Area School Board.
While my most important position is raising 4 beautiful, independent daughters in the Hempfield Area School District, I have over 25 years of experience in the science and engineering field. I am currently a Manager of Technology Development at Arconic (formerly Alcoa), where I appreciate the value of a well-prepared workforce. As an adjunct instructor in local universities, I also understand the skills necessary to give our students a competitive advantage as they pursue and progress in post-secondary education and careers.
I realize the value of establishing a network of community and industry partners with the
district to provide training opportunities, mentoring, and exposure to science and engineering technologies. I served on the Allegheny IU3 Math and Science Initiative
Pilot Program that connected K-12 teachers and administrators with a consortium of industries. This Pilot Program has now expanded to a permanent program and has served over 15 school districts in Western Pennsylvania.
Together we can enable Hempfield Area School District to reach its maximum potential through a combination of fiscal accountability, out of the box thinking and community involvement.
