Hero for a Hero

My father has always been our Hero, now it is time for us to become his Hero. My name is Justiss and I am 16 years old, I have a 12 year old brother  and his name is Shane. My dad tells us we mean everything to him. In early 2006 my dad, Damon Bagley, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). In December of 2011 my father was involved in a head-on Collision on his way to work . Soon after the accident his multiple sclerosis syptoms started flaring up. He began having troubles with his vision and balance. In 2014 he started using a cane to help with his balance but by 2015 he was in his first wheelchair. MS is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information between the brain and body. It is an autoimmune disease, what this means is something in my fathers body triggered his immune system to attack itself.  The cause of MS is still unknown – scientists believe the disease is triggered by unidentified environmental factors in a person who is genetically predisposed to multiple sclerosis.
My father is a carismatic, strong, and a loving man who always puts others first. He was a Deputy Sheriff for Fresno County Sheriff's Department  for about 8 years and then a Police Officer for Clovis Police Department for an additional 8 years. He was very involved with youth throughout his career  although his dream was always to become a teacher. After leaving law enforcement he started teaching at Washington Union High school.
During his time at the highschool he has started a Law &  Justice program with around 170 students, this program is for students from the 8th grade  through the 12th grade. Many of the students have moved on to enroll in college and major in a variety of criminal justice fields.  My father also started a drug education program prior to leaving law enforcement, he still continues to work with some of the high school students, helping them with any struggles they have with substance abuse. My fathers Multiple Sclerosis has advanced to the point where his teaching career is being thretened.
The procedure that could help my father get his life back is a stem cell therapy procedure and it is a new procedure based around stem cell replacement. Unfortunately health insurance still does not recognize the procedure and this means he has to raise enough money to be able to receive the procedure and it will take multiple procedures for the best results.  For futher information please visit stemgenex.com
The sucess of this procedure would allow my father to be fully involved in Shane's and my life. My hopes are for my father to be at every one of my brothers  sporting events and for him to one day walk me down the isle at my wedding. He would also like to continue his career as a teacher and be invloved with his students lives continuing to impact them in a positive way. Thank you for reading our story and God bless you.
