Like Elvis Summers of LA did for his community!  He had the right idea and big enough heart to see it through!  Watch his promo video!
City workers taking Tiny Homes away from the homeless after they were donated by Elvis and his community!  Such a Tragedy!  Let's not what happened in LA happen here!
This past year, Montiano, a 47-year-old Washingtonian and father of two boys,  took a long, hard look around his city neighborhoods and he didn’t like what he saw. He know the discouragement first hand when people apply for housing or shelters and be turned away because of the City's claim of their lack of resources.
In a city struggling with an ongoing homelessness crisis that reached "state of emergency" level statuses, Montiano turned to online crowdfunding platform GoFundMe to raise money for his fellow Washingtonians for whom a sense of permanence and dignity has been elusive. Mostly, he wanted to put roofs over a whole bunch of heads!
Montiano asked, "Why is it that for a city thats in the surplus with funding, earned mostly from Red Light cameras, recieving millions in taxes from new property developments and businesses, having a problem placing the homeless in shelters and housing?"
And so, Montiano, using cash that will be raised through this GoFundMe campaign and other donations, will began to build roofs — dozens of tiny roofs to top a fleet of cheerily hued mobile tiny houses, each measuring 6-feet-by-8-feet or larger for those who are chronically homeless.  In the process, Montiano, who has no previous affiliations with governmental social services organizations or charitable groups, founded Fisher's of Mankind Foundation, starting their first project, "DC's Tiny Homes for the Homeless  (DCTHH)".
Costing roughly up to $1,500 each to build, each portable structure will be cladded with rooftop solar panels and equipped with a camping toilet. The dwellings certainly aren’t anything fancy — they’re immediately reminiscent of backyard playhouses or garden sheds in their simplicity and size. They definitely not kitted out. However, there are four walls, lockable doors, window(s), insulated walls, carpet,
windows, and an architectural feature that most of us take for granted: a slanted roof.

Let's get DC to take notice!
The idea is to set up these homes as to “not block businesses or other residences.” The ultimate goal is to secure private land on which to build out a proper tiny house village similar to ones found in LA, Austin, Nashville, Seattle and Olympia, Washington.

Let's rally around the mission to “give people in the world a safe place to eat and sleep.”
Montiano, who himself has experienced homelessness, explained that although small, the houses are a step above bus benches, sidewalks and makeshift tarpaulin tents. When DC's organizations drag their feet in helping people with shelter or housing issues, we label this approach as "definitely not part of the solution. It's part of the problem."
Despite feeling the wrath of the bureaucratic powers that be, Montiano remains undeterred and defiant. He has vowed to work towards providing shelter to as many of the roughly 15,000 or more people living on the streets of Washington, DC as he can.
Also, those in need of medicaid, completing basic education, employment, job training, food stamps, etc. will be provided the resources to help them help themselves.  We can "feed" them but why not show them how to "feed themselves"!  These are the main stipulations to getting a Tiny House through this project.
Elvis Summers stated, “Enough is enough. It’s a human rights violation and a humanitarian crisis. There are human beings suffering right now,” adding: “Even if I have to do it all myself, buying private land and doing it that way, I will. Either way, I am going to help these people. I won’t turn my back on them.” I feel you, Elvis, and I'm right there with you, brother...
