DAM Events 2017 : Let's DO this!

Now going into the sixth year of productions, DAM Events has consistently provided a platform of opportunity for Bay Area rising and established creative artists. In the past 5 years alone, I have showcased over 200 artists of ALL ages (youngest being 7 years old and oldest being in their 60's!). To be honest, I never thought I would be involved in producing these kind of events but once it started, it made complete sense.

I love to see people smile and connect. I love to give first chances. I love mentoring and empowering artists. I love to see artists bring their A-game to the stage. I love that I literally have to kick people out of the party when the venue closes. I love every bit of producing DAM but let's be real here - I am wearing almost every single hat for this event and it is exhausting, even though it is fulfilling. In the first couple of years, I literally dug myself into a financial hole before learning how to turn things around.

I am asking for your help today in funding the next year of DAM productions as I take the show on the road to Sacramento, Los Angeles, and Oakland. I want Bay Area artists to connect with each other all across Cali and soon, across the US and abroad. I want to show them what their peers are doing elsewhere and I want their peers to see what the Bay is up to also. WE are the trendsetters and influencers but WE are not the ones flourishing as professionals in the arts. At least, not while we are residing here IN the Bay Area. I want that to change, and I believe I can do that by affecting one artist at a time who will then go on and continue the cycle.

With all that being said, the funds I raise here are going strictly towards production costs :
- Venue
- Headlining Artists
- Marketing
- Staff
The money is NOT going in my pocket and any excess I raise will go towards the next steps in the growth of the DAM movement. Imagine taking artists on the road to Europe to perform! Or bringing International icons HERE to inspire us all! There is SO MUCH that can be done, if the funding is there.

If you believe in DAM and what WE can do as a community when we work together, then please take the time to donate.
If you don't believe in the artists, but you believe in me, then please donate.
If you don't believe in anyone but have $5 on deck for your next 711 run, please donate that $5 to me (or at least grab me a slurpy while you're there).

Seriously, I NEVER ever ever ask for help. It's not that I'm too proud, it's that I know we all have so many other obligations daily to attend to and I don't intend to distract from that. Part of my personal growth process is admitting when I could use help and putting my intentions out into the world a bit clearer, so here we are, and here I am, asking for your help in making this next step happen that much quicker.

I appreciate you if you made it this far. :) And I hope to make you all proud!

Hey All! I haven't posted an update in awhile (my apologiesssssss), but please note that I am continuing this fundraiser through the year to help continue raising funds to cover DAM expenses. We just finished up our DAMsf6YA at DNA Lounge and the talent that hit that stage was beyond amazing! Make sure to check out footage online at www.YouTube.com/DAMevents.

Next up :: We have the New Parish in Oakland booked for our first ever DAMoakland on June 8th! This event will be 18+.

Please please continue spreading word to Bay Area artists and supporters/lovers of the arts combined.

Cheers to continuing to build bridges through art!

PS, enjoy this footage of MePlus2 from the latest DAM event performing to Missy Elliott.
Fun Fact - this video got reposted and shouted out by Missy Elliott herself!!

So so grateful for the continued support for the DAM cause! Keep on sharing, talking, etc as we are jusssssssst getting started on the 2017 magic. :)

In the meantime, I wanted to share one of my favorite DAM performances from the early years. Beto O 'Connor is seriously one of the Bay's most creative and humble dance artists. Check out his version of Mary Poppins....Scary Poppins!

Hey all!! $1000 in so far and I am so so grateful for the contributions so far, as most of them are directly from my artist friends who I KNOW could use the extra choiinnnnssss. Let's please continue building the momentum and bringing new eyes to this campaign. Every single donation counts - it took less than 30 people to get us to this number, so let's get 30 more!

FYI - The campaign is going to run through the end of February in hopes that right after the 6 Year Anniversary party in SF, we can lay the deposits down for the remaining year of showcases. :)

Happy Thursday!
The next SF showcase is coming up!

DAM Events allow artists of all ages to hit the stage to share with their community. Our young artists are some of the rawest and most inspiring acts we bring to the stage!

In this performance which went VIRAL via WorldStarHipHop, choreographer Melvin TimTim brought various dancers of Chapkis Dance together & included cameos by some amazing all age dance groups including the 3 ladies of MePlus2 (credits include Apple and Chris Brown), 2 young men of The Gentlemen (as seen on "America's Got Talent"), and Vine sensations The Williams Family.

I never get tired of watching this one! Hope you enjoy!

*Also, I want to say THANK YOU to Chapkis Dance for their generous donation to the current GoFundMe campaign!! Your support and leadership in this community is forever appreciated!!*
