Cure for BJ - Round 2
$12,395 of $15,000 goal
We have quietly survived each day with a strong faith in God, the support of wonderful friends and coworkers, special people in our lives, and countless people praying. BJ is 14 now and has been kicking Leukemia's butt for 3 1/2 years. We were on the countdown...He had 7 months of treatments left. He was scheduled to be done on Jan 4, 2016. We were already beginning to plan the party to celebrate the end of his cancer treatments.
On May 22, 2015, at his regularly scheduled chemo visit, we found out that the cancer was back. We were shattered because we were so close to being done. The end game became having a bone marrow transplant. He endured 3 phases of high dose chemo induction all summer, and was not able to get to an acceptable level of disease to have a successful bone marrow transplant. He was accepted into a clinical trial at Duke Hospital in Durham, NC in September 2015. The CART cell trial was unsuccessful and after a week's stay in PICU, and a total of 3 weeks in the hospital in Durham, BJ was transported back to Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte, NC. He remains inpatient, as he receives the toughest chemo he has had, to try to erase as much leukemia as possible, to once again try to get to transplant.
BJ is an athlete...loves football and basketball. He's an avid Carolina Panthers fan. He's a true Tarheel by birth. He loves to fish, target shoot, and he's an easy going country boy.
This fundraiser has been set up to provide support for BJ's medical bills and expenses through this next step in his journey. We are so very grateful for the many people who care so much.

This young man is truly an inspiration. Pray God will give him and his family the grace to get through each day and thank God for each day they are together in this life. May God strengthen his mother for the journey ahead and richly bless her.
