2015 is the year that we BRING BACK THE PRIDE!!!
Corcoran High School is a great school in the city of Syracuse. This school has seen a DRAMATIC drop in student participation in school activities. The athletic and arts programs are almost totally unattended or supported by the school community.
We hope to engage students in a campaign to increase participation in school events to create a sense of pride that will translate to a better, safer school environment.
Our goal is to have very high attendance rates at our sporting events by creating a Cougar "Pride."
We are challenging students to attend 10 school events each season. These events will consist of Football Games, Soccer Games, School Plays, Band Concerts and other varsity home sporting events.
Students will receive a "motivator" at each event. These will be items such as foam fingers, fan hands, beads, a free soda, free admission, scarves, t-shirts etc..Students who attend 10 events per season will be entered in an end of the season drawing where they will win great prizes such as tickets to sit in the student section at an SU game, a fan zone bling basket, school sport warmups and more.
Fan Zones will be created in the stands and sidelines during sporting events. Teams are being asked to "adopt" other sport teams by encouraging their players to attend another's sports home games for the season. So the football team may support the lacrosse team or vice versa..There will always be fans in the stands!
Student athletes, thespians, musicians and Honor Roll students will be recognized on the flat screen monitors in the lunchroom on game days, event days and the end of marking periods.
Student and staff achievement will be promoted throughout the building on a regular basis.
Funds will pay for banners, motivators, prizes, paint and effects for the fan zones, tshirts and photographs of students.
There is so much to be proud of in our great city comunity. Let's raise these kids up and see if we can make a difference. Give them something to be proud of...make them a part of something Great!
